- Okay, lemme get this straight... You don't want an interface or color
- scheme forced on you, but you use _Magic-friggin'-WB_? Howzat? Are you
- ABSOLUTELY certain that you don't have NewIcons confused with MagicWB?
- NewIcons is the one that lets you have any Workbench palette you want, and
- the icons will always look good. So go ahead, change screenmodes, fiddle with
- the Palette prefs.
- MagicWB, on the other hand, dictates the settings of the first 8 colors of
- your Workbench screen. You have to leave those colors alone in the Palette
- prefs program, and you have to run a seperate program to lock the next four
- colors into the MagicWB color scheme. If you don't, the MagicWB-style icons
- come up in the rather fetching shades of pink and purple.
- To sum up:
- MagicWB - Forces you to a certain 8 colors.
- NewIcons - Use any palette.
-
- Don't make the all-too-common mistake of thinking that NewIcons is a set of
- isometric icons by Roger McVey (which received wide acclaim before MagicWB
- appeared on the scene). NewIcons is actually a system which adds palette
- information to icons. In fact, if you get Chad Randall's terribly useful
- little program called MWB2NI from Aminet, you can use MagicWB icons with the
- NewIcons system, and be freed of the restrictions on your Palette prefs.
